Oh, this Colombia. It’s so very tasty.
Name: Colombia Mesas de los Santos
Origin: North Colombia
Process: Washed
Tasting Notes: Chocolate, cream and caramel with a velvety body and a smooth, sweet finish *drools*.
About the Farm:
The folks who run and work at this farm are serious about all the things we’re serious about, which means this coffee is socially responsible, environmentally responsible and astonishingly tasty. It’s all we’re asking for, really.
Social responsibility: The wages paid to the folks who harvest the coffee are 65% above the minimum wage and the farm provides insurance, health care and a pension for their employees.
Environmental responsibility: Using indigenous insects to control infestations, the farm has managed to avoid the use of pesticides. They’re also helping to reforest the area around the farm, as well as moving away from monoculture, and encouraging native birds to nest on the farm.
Astonishing Tastiness: This is one of the nicest Colombian coffees I have ever tasted. It has a cocoa and cardamom note that becomes something closer to luscious chocolate and cream when brewed in French press. The velvety mouthfeel lingers right up to the end and the coffee only gets sweeter as it cools.
